INSURANCE PROCESS

Insurance Process: Projects

INSURANCE CLAIMS PROCESS

The claim’s process can be confusing. At Family Roofing & Restoration, our Claims Specialists are trained to be fully knowledgeable about insurance claims procedures. We can help you navigate through the claims process step-by-step.

Step 1: INSPECT THE ROOF FOR DAMAGES

Family Roofing & Restoration will do a free roof inspection. We will come to your house and assess if you roof has enough storm-related damage that the repair would be covered by homeowner’s insurance. We will take photos of the roof damage so that you can see what work needs to be done.

Step 2: SET UP AN INSURANCE CLAIM

If your roof has enough storm-related damage, then a Family Roofing & Restoration Insurance Claim’s Specialist will sit down with you and help you call your insurance company and set up a claim.

Step 3: INSURANCE ADJUSTER WILL INSPECT THE ROOF

Once a claim has been filed, an Insurance Adjuster will call you to let you know when he/she will be coming to your house to do an inspection. The insurance adjuster will be the person to decide if your insurance will pay to fix the damage. THE INSURANCE COMPANY DETERMINES THE JOB PRICE.

It is very important that you call Family Roofing & Restoration to let us know when the Adjuster’s inspection will be. A Family Roofing & Restoration Representative will meet the Insurance Adjuster at your house to point out damages to maximize your claim settlement.

Step 4: RECEIVE THE LOSS REPORT & 1ST CHECK

If your claim has been approved by your insurance company, they will send you a Loss Report which outlines the scope of damage and the funds that they will pay to cover the cost of the repairs. The 1st check will be included with the Loss Report. This check is the settlement amount with the depreciation & deductible amounts subtracted from it. You will receive the depreciation once the job is completed. The 1st check will usually have the mortgage company as a payee. This is because the mortgage company owns a portion of your home. You will need to have the mortgage company endorse the check before it can be cashed.

Step 5: SIGN THE FAMILY ROOFING & RESTORATION AGREEMENT

Once you receive the Loss Report, call Family Roofing & Restoration and we will make sure that you were fully compensated for your loss. We will compare the numbers from the Insurance Loss Report with our own. The amount that the insurance company is paying for the roof replacement will be the contract amount. If there is a discrepancy, we will supplement the insurance company to pay for the difference. You will not be responsible to pay for anything besides your deductible and any upgrades that you may want. At this point, you will sign the agreement and pick out which color you want for your roof.

Step 6: NEW ROOF INSTALLATION

A Family Roofing & Restoration crew will come to your house and rip off the old roof to the decking. The decking will be inspected for quality. If there are areas of rot or decay, we will replace the wood in those areas. The predetermined roof material will be installed on the roof. Most roofs are installed in one day. Please review the “What to Expect Form” in your Family Roofing folder before the job begins so that you will know how to prepare for your rooGing project.

Family Roofing & Restoration does not ask for any money up front for jobs paid by insurance claims. We will ask for the 1st check amount that the insurance company paid you on the day that your roof is installed.

Step 7: CITY INSPECTOR WILL INSPECT YOUR NEW ROOF

Once the job is complete, Family Roofing & Restoration will call for a city inspection. An inspector from your city will come to your house to ensure that the roof has been installed properly. Family Roofing & Restoration may need to leave a ladder outside of your house for the city inspector.

Step 8: RECEIVE THE 2ND CHECK.

After your roof in installed, Family Roofing & Restoration will send an invoice to the insurance company. This invoice informs the insurance company that the job is complete. They will then mail you the depreciation amount for the roof, which is typically 30- 50% of the roof replacement cost. Once you receive the 2nd check, please call Family Roofing & Restoration so that we can come to your house to collect the final balance for the roof replacement. This is when the deductible amount will be collected from you. We will give you an Installation Certificate with our warranty information once the roof replacement has been fully paid.
